Best Kid Friendly Trail in the Smoky Mountains

Posted on September 21, 2018April 4, 2021 by Mark Berry

LAUREL FALLS TRAIL is an easy 2.6 mile ROUNDTRIP paved trail that can take up to an hour in time depending on how long you stay at the falls.

This is one of the most popular trails due to it being kid friendly and paved. Slowly walking up a little over 300ft in elevation. Once at the falls you are a little over 2600ft in total elevation.

Since being a popular trail you get a lot of congestion. With parking and once you make it to the falls especially.

In the spring time there are some great views of the mountains through the leafless trees.

Even though a rather short trail with lots of congestion. The falls are worth it especially for the kids.

During our hike to the falls we witnessed two people fall and scrap their knees due to not paying attention to the uneven paved trail. While they were ok myself and another family had first aid kits to help these people. Even though its an easy trail still prepare for the worst case situation.

I would recommend wearing running shoes or athletic type shoes then boots on this trail due to the paved trail.
