You can have the best gear out there, but you will not make it far without having proper footwear when backpacking. In this case, we are talking socks and the best brands that I personally have and have used over again.
Whether you are a fan of no show, crew, or high calf socks. The brands below have it all.
I am not being payed or sponsored to review any of these products
1. Darn Tough
If you have searched any type of hiking sock you have quickly found out that Darn Tough is the top brand out there. There socks are as the name states. Darn Tough. My personal favorite is the Darn Tough Hiker Merino Wool Micro. They have a seamless toe with an elastic arch support. The material is a blend of 61% Merino Wool, 36% Nylon, 3% Lycra Spandex.
The only time I have received a blister wearing these socks was on a 5 mile downhill trek from Mt. Leconte. The blister was so small and on my small pinky toe and gave me no problems the next day. These socks are great to wear anywhere. I have worn them to the gym, work, and around the house. All in all just a well rounded sock. Not to mention, they have a lifetime guarantee. Highly Recommend.
2. Wigwam
My very first pair of hiking socks were the Wigwam Hiker Lite Socks. I still own these socks and they are still one of my favorite hiking socks. I love the way these socks form around my feet. With a blend of 37% Polyester, 33% X2O Acrylic, 23% Stretch Nylon, 6% Tencel, 1% Spandex. I have completely soaked my foot in cold water while hiking in these socks and they felt dried out within the hour. Great socks in my opinion and a great company with a Lifetime Warranty.
3. Smartwool
Smartwool is a great sock. I personally like the cushion on the smartwool brand. The blend is 56% merino wool, 41% nylon, 3% elastane. You just can’t go wrong with merino wool in my opinion. Wicks moisture and keeps feet dry to prevent blisters and pruny feet.
Smartwool brand has tons of different designs that will appeal to anyone. Smartwool is also in the base layer market as well. Designing shirts, underwear, and more. Smartwool comes with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee.
While there are tons of other options out there. These are the brands I like to stick to. For comfort and mainly peace of mind. Do you have a favorite sock not listed? Drop a comment below.
