Carabiner

One Thing Everyone Should Upgrade on Their Hammock

Posted on November 16, 2018November 27, 2018 by Mark Berry

Sitting in a hammock on a nice day is amazingly relaxing to me and I try to do it as much as possible.

No matter the type or brand of hammock you decide to purchase there is a common part of it I’d suggest everyone taking time to upgrade if you are a heavy hammock user.

~~~The Carabiners~~~
Definition Carabiner : a coupling link with a safety closure, used by rock climbers.
Most hammocks (not all) come with pretty standard and cheap carabiners. With the exception of some higher quality hammocks like ENO upgrading the carabiners would be extremely beneficial.
Carabiners are just a metal or aluminum alloy loop with a spring loaded gate. These cheaper carabiners can bend and weaken over time.
I personally have carabiners that have slowly bent over time and will no longer close.
Personally I chose to go with the Black Diamond Neutrino. It is the basic carabiner they sell and can support 7 kilonewtons which equals to over 1500lbs of force. With a price of only $7 each they will last you through multiple hammocks.
You can buy the Black Diamond Carabiners off amazon or at any Outdoor store near you.
One kilonewton is equal to 220 lbs of force.
