I have been in the market for a lightweight, water resistant and breathable hiking jacket for some time now. I’ve shopped at Bass
Pro Shops and my local REI stores just to figure out what exactly I want.
I just can’t seem to justice spending hundreds of dollars on a jacket. No matter how much I plan on wearing it.
After searching on amazon I took a chance on the ZeroXposur Hardshell Rain Jacket. I was a little skeptical at first until I took it out for a 4 mile winter hike in the middle of February. The temperature was around 30-35 degrees.
I wore the jacket over a pretty thin Bass Pro Shop Hoodie and thats it. I was not only dry, but pretty warm and didn’t break out a sweat once. It did however start snowing towards the end of the hike and I stayed dry and comfortable.
What I really enjoy is my High Sierra Hydration Pack fit really well on my shoulders. I really wanted some more support without wearing a super thick coat.
A few days later it was raining out so I decided to slap my boots on and my ZeroXposur Hardshell Rain Jacket and hit the trail to put it to the test. It rained the entire 30-35min I was out on the trail. I am really impressed for the mere fact that when I got back to thecar and took the jacket off my hoodie underneath was completely dry. It was around 35-38 degrees out and I was warm and comfortable. I could have hiked around the trail many times and have stayed dry and a happy hiker.
The only Con I have with this jacket is the pockets are not very deep. However that is a small issue since it has everything else I wanted in a nice hiking jacket.
